St. Louis Adventure

I spent the last week visiting my sister and brother-in-law in Kansas...yes, I said Kansas. You know the first time I went to visit I was expecting flat corn fields for as far as I could see, but I am thankful to tell you that is NOT what I saw. I actually really enjoy Kansas. Anyway, while I was there my big sister and I went to St. Louis for the day. It was my first time seeing both The Gateway Arch (it's huge) and the Mississippi River, which was overflowing and covering streets as you can see in the pictures. I had an amazing time and here is my evidence.

The Gateway Arch is 630 feet tall. I believe they said it was the tallest monument in the country and let me just is TALL. We went up to the top...and is tall. To get to the top you get/have to ride in the original trolley pod things. They are tiny and are supposedly meant to hold five people, which we did on the way down and let me say there was not much room. Its like a 5x5 cube and really pretty scary knowing that you are going up so high in such a small little compartment. I don't consider myself claustrophobic, but I am not going to lie and say I wasn't a little thrown by the size of the pod. BUT, in the end, the view from the top was pretty amazing and worth the little bit of stress about the possibility of plummeting to my death in a 50+ year old transportation pod.
