I spent the last week visiting my sister and brother-in-law in Kansas...yes, I said Kansas. You know the first time I went to visit I was expecting flat corn fields for as far as I could see, but I am thankful to tell you that is NOT what I saw. I actually really enjoy Kansas. Anyway, while I was there my big sister and I went to St. Louis for the day. It was my first time seeing both The Gateway Arch (it's huge) and the Mississippi River, which was overflowing and covering streets as you can see in the pictures. I had an amazing time and here is my evidence.


The Gateway Arch is 630 feet tall. I believe they said it was the tallest monument in the country and let me just say...it is TALL. We went up to the top...and yeah...it is tall. To get to the top you get/have to ride in the original trolley pod things. They are tiny and are supposedly meant to hold five people, which we did on the way down and let me say there was not much room. Its like a 5x5 cube and really pretty scary knowing that you are going up so high in such a small little compartment. I don't consider myself claustrophobic, but I am not going to lie and say I wasn't a little thrown by the size of the pod. BUT, in the end, the view from the top was pretty amazing and worth the little bit of stress about the possibility of plummeting to my death in a 50+ year old transportation pod.

Yesterday a few friends and I drove into LA to do the Runyan Canyon hike. It is an AMAZING hike that overlooks basically everything around LA. It was a great way to spend some time outside and have a great view while doing it. I would definitely recommend doing this trail for a short day hike and to get a totally different perspective on the craziness that is Los Angeles. Of course, I had to document the day's fun...so I hope you like it.

After grabbing lunch with a few friends yesterday I got on the freeway to drive home to see smoke coming from the general area of my house. Of course living in Southern California you always have to be on fire watch, but it is always a little bit stressful. I ended up following a fire truck up my street and was able to see flames from my driveway. Luckily, we have an amazing fire department that is well equipped and got several bombers out there and put the flames out quickly. I was able to get a few interesting shots of some of the action.

Well, like I said in the last post, Kelsey has amazing taste. She hand picked all of her bridesmaids necklaces or earrings as their wedding gifts. Scott gave all his groomsmen classic black Ray Ban sunglasses. One of the highlights for me were the blueberry cupcakes with lemon frosting that were made by a family friend. They were AMAZING! Scott and Kelsey planned an great wedding and I was so happy to be there to document!
