Josh+Amii, Los Angeles

Last month I was able to document Josh and Amii's wedding in Los Angeles, California. The couple was married on a tee box at the amazing Mountain Gate Country Club and then moved the party to Pinot Bistro in Studio City. It was a great event and I was very happy to be a part of it. I wish you guys the best of luck in your new life together!

St. Louis Adventure

I spent the last week visiting my sister and brother-in-law in Kansas...yes, I said Kansas. You know the first time I went to visit I was expecting flat corn fields for as far as I could see, but I am thankful to tell you that is NOT what I saw. I actually really enjoy Kansas. Anyway, while I was there my big sister and I went to St. Louis for the day. It was my first time seeing both The Gateway Arch (it's huge) and the Mississippi River, which was overflowing and covering streets as you can see in the pictures. I had an amazing time and here is my evidence.

The Gateway Arch is 630 feet tall. I believe they said it was the tallest monument in the country and let me just say...it is TALL. We went up to the top...and yeah...it is tall. To get to the top you get/have to ride in the original trolley pod things. They are tiny and are supposedly meant to hold five people, which we did on the way down and let me say there was not much room. Its like a 5x5 cube and really pretty scary knowing that you are going up so high in such a small little compartment. I don't consider myself claustrophobic, but I am not going to lie and say I wasn't a little thrown by the size of the pod. BUT, in the end, the view from the top was pretty amazing and worth the little bit of stress about the possibility of plummeting to my death in a 50+ year old transportation pod.

Hiking LA

Yesterday a few friends and I drove into LA to do the Runyan Canyon hike. It is an AMAZING hike that overlooks basically everything around LA. It was a great way to spend some time outside and have a great view while doing it. I would definitely recommend doing this trail for a short day hike and to get a totally different perspective on the craziness that is Los Angeles. Of course, I had to document the day's fun...so I hope you like it.

Fire

After grabbing lunch with a few friends yesterday I got on the freeway to drive home to see smoke coming from the general area of my house. Of course living in Southern California you always have to be on fire watch, but it is always a little bit stressful. I ended up following a fire truck up my street and was able to see flames from my driveway. Luckily, we have an amazing fire department that is well equipped and got several bombers out there and put the flames out quickly. I was able to get a few interesting shots of some of the action.

Well, like I said in the last post, Kelsey has amazing taste. She hand picked all of her bridesmaids necklaces or earrings as their wedding gifts. Scott gave all his groomsmen classic black Ray Ban sunglasses. One of the highlights for me were the blueberry cupcakes with lemon frosting that were made by a family friend. They were AMAZING! Scott and Kelsey planned an great wedding and I was so happy to be there to document!

On August 15th of this year two of my friends, Kelsey and Scott, got married in Bend, Oregon. It was a perfect wedding in a park beneath huge trees. Kelsey has amazing taste and loves J Crew, which is why everyone looks so fantastic together. Hopefully my photos do it justice. Congratulations you two!

After doing some more 'cute and sweet' pictures at the University of Redlands I took Scott and Kelsey to the Loma Linda self car wash. It's becoming more and more evident that I am getting older and one big clue is that my friends are beginning to get married right and left. One of my best friends that I have known since high school got married on July 12th and I was lucky enough to be a part of their special day. Downpour

You would think I was living in the Northwest by the weather we have been enjoying here. CRAZY thunderstorms every afternoon opening the heavens and letting water just pour out accompanied by booming thunder and streaks of lightning. Luckily for me I like the rain. Here are just a few pictures from my apartment building while we were experience the downpour for the day.

The Ninth of June

It has been a crazy week here in Colorado. We have had tornado and severe thunderstorm watches, and yet its really been pretty nice. Everyone keeps telling me that this is strange weather for the this time of year, but I don't mind it only being like 70° in the middle of June. Also, my roomie claims that it never rains in Colorado...but it has basically rained everyday for the past week. So, today I walked out of work to a lovely temperature of nearly 75°, sunny skies...and pouring rain...needless to say it was a bit confusing, but inspiring. Hope you enjoy my pictures of the strange weather this afternoon.

Day Off...

I had the day off today, so I decided to take EVERY camera I own out on a little adventure. That adventure ended up with me sitting on a rock along side the Boulder Creek reading and thinking for a few hours. It was perfect and relaxing. Hopefully the rest of the weekend will be as wonderful as today and I will get a few more pictures to share...

Any Girl's Dream Day

What girl wouldn't want to play dress up in a wedding dress, get her hair and makeup done AND have over a dozen photographers take her picture? Well...if there is someone out there that is saying no...you are crazy. I had an AMAZING day being a model for a Jose Villa Seminar (if you don't know who that is...go now and look him up cause he is an absolutely fantastic photographer). These are just a few pictures taken by my favorite boss James Christianson (again...if you don't know who he is...go now and look him up cause he is also fantastic). So...enjoy my day of dress up.

Had to mix it up here...gotta show me being myself...way to ruin a great picture with perfect lighting. I have NO idea what I am doing.

A Day Like Today...

On a day like to day I find it hard to not be in a good mood. I spent it walking around downtown Boulder, drinking coffee and reading, and of course people watching. All the trees and flowers are blooming and the weather is perfect. I can definitely understand why people want to live here. I've only been here a little over a month and I've seen the city transformed from a winter wonderland to a cheerful spring landscape. I know this is a random post...but I had a good day and felt like sharing it with someone.

Those of you who know me well...know that I love dandelions and these are right outside my apartment, so I couldn't resist.

Many people claim to have a best friend, well I have two. They are the best friends anyone could imagine. I trust them with my life and I think they would say the same. Usually people are lucky if they are able to find ONE person who they connect with as well as we do. I love them and I am so glad we got to hangout for a week...shopping, eating and laughing til we cry. Enough mush...enjoy.

Family Matters

I was lucky enough to have both my mom AND my sister here for the weekend. It was great to see them and I wish it hadn't been such a short stay, but we able to go all around town getting treats, looking through shops and having my mom stop to look at EVERY tulip she could see...it was a nice. The morning of these pictures it was cold and misty, but it was still quite beautiful out here in Colorado. I am glad you guys got to see where I am living and spend a little quality time with me. Can't wait til you visit again! Love you guys!

The Hike

My first weekend in Boulder, CO and of course I had to get into my new outdoorsy life. We went on a great hike through the snow through Boulder Mountain Park. It was the first time I have had to wear had to wear Yaktrax and it was great. I had a wonderful time and hope to do it again soon.

I love the snow because it can transform anything into a winter wonderland. Of course...Boulder does not need any help being beautiful, but after it snowed nearly two feet on Thursday it was a bit different. I went out on Friday afternoon to take these pictures of Pearl Street. It was pretty exciting for me, but also quite cold. So far Boulder has been everything I hoped it would be. I can't wait to see what will happen next.

Road Trip '09

I made the big move to Colorado this past weekend and luckily Loon was able to make the trip with me. We had some good times on our road trip...although it did let us down a bit. We were hoping that Wyoming was going to be a bit more exciting than 4 hours of the same deserted landscape, not to say we weren't warned...We did have fun spending the day in Salt Lake City to break up the drive. It was really nice to see Kelsey and Scott and kind of cool to see the Mormon temple. We were told that they host between 50 and 75 weddings EVERY Saturday! While we were sitting there we saw at least 6 couples...pretty crazy. Driving into CO was definitely the best part of the drive. The excitement nearly killed me, but we made it here safely and got to put my room together and spend a day walking around downtown Boulder before Lauryn had to leave me...So here I am...we'll see how it goes.

Our excitement for Wyoming steadily decreased after the Welcome to Wyoming sign, but we tried to stay positive...

Yesterday after eating lunch we decided to do a little recon for a future photo session, which basically turned into a full blown photo session itself. We had some fun walking around the Riverside Metrolink Station and then showing off our Le Grand Cru pride (legrandcru.us) at a local laundry mat. All in all....a picturesque day in my book....pun intended.

Fields of Yellow

It might be 'winter' right now, but in Southern California you would think it was the middle of spring. It is full of flowing sun-kissed fields of green and yellow. I couldn't resist throwing a few of my friends out there to see what we could get. I think some of them turned out quite well for an impromptu shoot. Today I decided to have a little fun and try something new. I have always seen these photo collage pictures and thought they were so interesting. Different views of the same object to combine and create a similar picture to reality. These are my first attempts...very simple, but I had fun doing it and will hopefully do it again sometime soon.

My First Post

This is my first venture into the blogging world, so...bare with me and let's see how it goes.

I believe in the quote, 'If it's meant to be, it will be.' I finished my academic career this past year and since then have been trying to figure out what I truly want to do with my life. Just when I was starting to become discouraged with my future I received a phone call from my high school volleyball coach, who is an amazing photographer (JamesChristianson.net -- Check it out if you haven't). He offered me an internship in photography and I of course was ecstatic. Since that day I have been trying to get things together before beginning the internship...so...here is my first step of sharing my view of the world through my lens. I hope that my journey will be as interesting to you as it is and hopefully will continue to be for me.
